1.1 Product Description

The 82.5L cylinder in the FM-200 fire extinguishing system contains FM-200 extinguishing gas pressurized with dry nitrogen to 42 bar at 21°C (600 PSIG at 70°F). The gas cylinders are equipped with a cylinder head valve, pressure gauge, and an optional integrated gauge with monitoring contacts. The cylinder head valve includes a safety relief valve.

1.2 Operating Principle

The FM-200 gas cylinder is activated for discharge by a gas/manual activation valve when there is activation pressure from the trigger cylinder or solenoid activation valve (only used with single cylinders). The part numbers for the activation components are as follows: gas/manual activation valve: SFS-NV82.5, activation cabinet STV-P1L, solenoid valve SFS-SOL.

1.3 Installation Instructions

The gas cylinder should be installed vertically with the cylinder head valve facing upwards. The cylinders are connected to a manifold via a DN40 flexible discharge hose with a check valve (Part number: SFSFC40) or through a threaded coupling with appropriate pressure rating.
The gas cylinder is secured with two cylinder holding straps (Part number SFS-CC-82.5), and the straps must be fixed to the wall or structure.
If pressure monitoring of the gas cylinder is required, the optional gauge with monitoring contacts (Part number SFS-PG42S) can replace the standard pressure gauge.

2.1 Inspection Every 6 Months

Inspect the pressure gauge of each gas cylinder. If the pressure gauge indicates a drop of more than 10% or the gas weight decreases by more than 5%, it must be recharged or replaced. Pressure changes with temperature must be considered when checking the pressure gauge. In the range from 20°C to 40°C, the change is approximately 0.33 bar per degree Celsius.
Inspect all components, including the support frame, and tighten, repair, or replace as necessary.
Replace any component if there is doubt about its ability to function correctly.
Check all pipes, fittings, and discharge nozzles for looseness, dirt, or other damage.
All output pipes must be clean and free of dirt, debris, blockages, and other foreign materials that could prevent the system from functioning or operating effectively during gas discharge.

2.2 Annual Maintenance

At least once a year, or more frequently as required by authorities, the entire system must be inspected and tested for operation by personnel trained by the manufacturer.
The cylinders must be periodically inspected according to the requirements of relevant national standards.
The entire piping of the system must be inspected annually for damage. If visual inspection reveals any defects, the piping must be replaced.
The area using the gas fire extinguishing system must be inspected and evaluated at least every 12 months to determine if structural changes could affect gas leakage or extinguishing effectiveness. If assessment by observation is not possible, a leak test of the room must be conducted according to the regulations in Appendix E – TCVN 7161-1 (ISO 14520-1).
